“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark and Vicki for their outstanding efforts this year, and have no hesitation in strongly recommending the Maori Hill Studio Complex as a wonderful place to live. Mark and Vicki have always promptly responded to any issues or queries; and their efforts to go above and beyond what is expected of a property owner have certainly been appreciated. Mark and Vicki’s friendliness and rapport with their tenants shows their dedication to their role, which we will greatly miss! Thanks again for a wonderful, hassle-free year!”
Sarah and Ev – 2011 tenants.

“What sold me on Maori Hill Studios was the location. Being away from the hustle and bustle it’s really quiet and peaceful but still only a short walk into the centre of town. The room was far more spacious than other studios I looked at and Mark and Vicki are fantastic landlords. They’re amazingly friendly and helpful and very responsive. I’ve been living here for almost a year and I’ve loved it so much I’ve signed on for another year.”
Nessie – 2011 & 2012 tenant.

“I found Maori Hill Studios through a letting agent close to Otago University and signed a 9 months contract with them. I really enjoyed the quietness of the place, its proximity to the university (approximately 15 minutes walk) and the city center (also 15 minutes walk). All the studios are furnished and I really appreciated the large common kitchen that I used daily. I certainly recommend the place as a good mix between total independence in the studio room and friendly social life in the common areas.”
Olivier, international student – 2011 tenant.

“Maori Hill Studios is a great place to stay, situated an easy walking distance to either central city or Roslyn village. If you are looking for somewhere quiet, comfortable and hassle-free this is the place. Vicki and Mark are very accommodating and quickly make it feel like home.”
Nathan (tenant May-Nov 2011).

“Mark and Vicki are very kind and friendly and can help you out getting to know Dunedin better. The studios are fully equipped and extremely comfortable, something nice to have for the winter. The neighbourhood is a quiet and safe place and a nice walk from central town. Your quality of living at Maori hills studios will surely be very good there!”
Pedro, Spanish teacher at Dunedin 2012.

” A really good place to relax after work, very quiet area to wake up with the birds singing. Very good facilities and just a few minutes from city center”
Luis, international student – 2012 tenant.

”Want a great place to stay in Dunedin for a few months?
I have had a most wonderful time staying in a Maori Hill studio. For a Visiting Professor as I was the place is perfect. It has a combined bedroom and study of good size, a small balcony, a kitchenette and a bathroom with a bathtub. It has free internet that always works and a lovely couple Vicki and Mark taking care of the tenants. There is also a communal kitchen where one easily gets to know the other tenants. If I ever come back to Dunedin, this is where I want to stay.”

“Recently, I have rented a furnished studio from Vicki and Mark Lambert at “Maori Hill Studios” while on a 3 month relief teaching contract at a local girls’ high school. With its comfortable furniture and all the necessary ‘mod-cons’, the studio became very much a “home away from home” for me. I couldn’t have stayed at a better place, as it is in walking distance to the Octagon and the centre of town, it does not get the noise that usually comes with central living. On the contrary, I thoroughly enjoyed the exceptional bird life around my studio: the green surrounding was inviting to Tuis, Wood Pigeons, Bellbirds and other birds. Waking up to the song of a local Bellbird will always be my immediate association with Maori Hill Studios. Having been separated from my family and friends for the time of my contract, I enjoyed meeting some of the other tenants while using the spotless common kitchen facilities. They were mature professionals in similar situations as mine. Mark and Vicki are fantastic to deal with, very friendly and supportive, with lots of good tips for someone who is new to the city. If ever there is a technical issue of any kind, they fix it immediately. I have very much enjoyed my time in Dunedin, also because of my wonderful accommodation, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a long term residence.”

“My stay at Vicki and Mark’s apartment went good and I really liked the place where I stayed. The studio is very well furnished. Having the power included in the rent made things easier as houses are not warm in Dunedin. There’s nothing missing in the kitchen and Vicki and Mark are always around to make sure everything is fine. On top of that, I got to meet my neighbors who were great people.
I do recommend this place especially if living in a quiet place by yourself is what you’re looking for.

“My partner and I lived at MHS for about 8 months and love it. The landlords, Vicki and Mark are amazing people. They always cleaned and took care of the flats’ grounds. They were quick to fix anything from swapping chairs to replacing a broken refrigerator. Since MHS was on the hill, walking 15 minutes to and from city center became a daily routine. It was actually faster and cheaper than driving or taking public transport. The kitchen was the cleanest and most tidy kitchen we have ever seen for flatting. The rent was right on the ball for what the flat was worth, a single studio with an en-suite bathroom and TV! Private, friendly, safe, clean and just enough space to fit your belongings for world wide travelers. Recommend!
Cheers,

“I moved into the Maori Hill Studios in the final year of my PhD. I was looking for somewhere close to the city centre and the University of Otago, but also somewhere quiet and away from typical student areas. The Maori Hill Studios are situated in a nook between two streets, so are not exposed to any traffic noise. Mostly the only background sounds come from the birds and cicadas in the neighbouring trees. The studios contain all an independently minded mature-student or professional needs, including a kitchenette and full bathroom. There are also common kitchen/laundry areas, which are always clean and tidy. Everyone in the Maori Hill Studios complex is very polite and respectful, as are the owners. So if you are looking for quiet and comfortable living, close to town and the university, with friendly and reliable owners, then this is definitely the place for you.”
